Is Nature Cereal Actually Healthy? Dr. A Doctor Answers


If you’re on Instagram or TikTok, you’ve probably heard of nature cereal. It’s supposed to be a breakfast or snack option that’s bursting with healthy qualities. So, we brought in best-selling author and physician Dr. Ian Smith to explain what it is and whether or not it’s a trend you should try (he also tackled other health trends like fire cider and chia seeds for weight loss).

What is “Nature Cereal”? 

It’s basically a bowl of fruit instead of cereal, topped with coconut water instead of milk. For the fruit, stick to dark purple fruits that are full of antioxidants (think blueberries, blackberries and cherries), explains Dr. Ian.”Coconut water is good because it has lots of electrolytes. Make sure the coconut water is unsweetened because if it’s sweetened, obviously you have lots of additional calories,” he says. 

“Personally speaking, this doesn’t look very appetizing to me. So, my alternative is to use milk, some unsweetened coconut milk instead. I can get down with that,” Dr. Ian says.
