Honey-roasted peanuts are a popular commercial snack. They are especially prevalent in airports as a semi-healthy munchie while waiting to board your plane or in flight.

However, if you’ve ever checked the ingredients, you were likely in for a surprise (and sadly, not a good one).

High fructose corn syrup with fake “natural” flavors is a common substitute for real honey.

Even in the few brands that do contain some actual honey, processing heats the honey which destroys the beneficial properties anyway 😞

Note that using soaked peanuts that are lightly salted during the dehydration process is ideal.

Instructions

  1. Place raw honey in the bottom of a small bowl or travel container. A ramekin is the perfect one-serving size.

  2. Sprinkle in roasted peanuts on top of the honey. Mix the peanuts in the honey with a spoon until evenly coated.

  3. Enjoy immediately with a spoon or seal the lid of a food container. Store in the pantry until ready to pack in your carry-on luggage.
